The Lauswolt Estate is named after the original owners of the territory: the Lauswolt family of Beetsterzwaag. In the 19th century, the estate came into the possession of Augustinus Lycklama à Nijeholt, the son of the mayor of Beetsterzwaag Jan Anne Lycklama à Nijeholt. (You have read this name several times before this). A mansion was built on the estate in 1867. The mansion was later converted into a hotel and sold to the Bilderberg Group in 1990. Now Lauswolt Estate is a 5-star hotel with a golf course, spa and several restaurants, including "De Heeren van Harinxma", which has been awarded a Michelin star. Nice to know: Tina Turner was once spotted by a hiker in the woods of the Estate.
