The 'Backyard of Groningen' route in brief
Under the smoke of the city of Groningen, you will find a world that is truly different from everything else in the province of Groningen.
It is grand, wide, it goes from wet to dry, from low to high, and from peat to sand.
A magnificent, newly developed nature reserve flows smoothly into an ancient and more intimate landscape, with country estates and pretty villages. The nice thing is that it is not (yet) that touristy.
Along the way, you also come across special stories, e.g. about how former rich people from Drenthe and Groningen were intertwined, and that this was not always friendly. ;-)
