The route starts at Oosterheerdt Estate Farm (route with route book), or in Tolbert (route with app).

Driving leisurely through the region, you will discover how beautiful and varied the landscape is. You taste the history of farming families, of the rich nobility, the peat development, the struggle with the water.

The route tells you about the impressive project to develop several thousand hectares of new nature, and with success. And that while the region is already rich with beautiful nature in forests and in some country estates.

So close to the city of Groningen, and so central, and yet not overrun by tourism! That is the unique charm of this part of Groningen.

On the date you booked, drive to the start location of the route 'Zuidelijk Westerkwartier, in Leek (route with route book), or in Tolbert (route with app).

There - before you start the route - you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a delicacy. When confirming the route, you will receive the address where lunch is planned that day.

The route takes you through a fascinating region, where new and old nature are connected, you go from old Groningen chic riches to the poverty in the former moorland.

Along the way, you get plenty of tips to get out, stretch your legs and have a look around. If only to find answers to the questions.

You will be given some tips on where to have a drink along the way.

Would you like to end your day with a snack+drink or good food? Bistro 't Oude Raadhuis in Zuidhorn is the place to be.

Travel date: can be booked all year round.

Travel fee: €43.50 per person. (based on two people minimum). Additional persons surcharge € 31.00 pp.

Included: LocalGroningen route 'Zuidelijk Westerkwartier' * coffee/tea with cake * lunch (package) * booking and administration fee.

Not included: other meals and drinks * entrance tickets * parking costs for own car * cost of refuelling/charging the car * other personal expenses.

Conditions

Booking and payment After booking, you will receive a confirmation from us and also the invoice. The booking is final when payment is received in full.

Cancellation If you cancel the booking, the payment will not be refunded.

A new date can be set in consultation.

If a cancellation is made 7 days or more before the booking date, only the booking as far as the itinerary is concerned can be moved. The catering components will have to be paid for again if you wish to book these on a new date.
