All over the world, there are about 195 Unesco Geoparks. So it is quite unique that the area 'Hondsrug - Hunzedal' also belongs to them. So they are very proud of it in Drenthe.

The sands of Drenthe and the Hondsrug were not an area for rich stinkers and re-farmers. Small communities have ruled among themselves for centuries. Sustainable agricultural management and caring for nature went hand in hand in Drenthe for centuries, and this can still be seen in the Hondsrug region in certain places.

You go back to the Ice Ages, taking a journey through time over magnificent rolling countryside with sand drifts, heathlands and forests. Enjoy panoramic views over the Hunzedal countryside and the meandering river valleys of the many small rivers.

Did you know that many landscape photographers rank this area among the most photogenic in the Netherlands?

In such a beautiful Drenthe village with its characteristic Saxon farmhouses, you'll slide into a cosy terrace on the Brink for lunch and a drink in between.

Day package Hondsrug - Hunzedal, Drenthe

On the date you booked, drive to the start location of the route "Hondsrug - Hunzedal".

There - before you start the route - you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a delicacy. Upon confirmation of the route, you will receive the address where lunch is planned that day.

Drenthe has 52 hunebeds, some of which you can visit. You will also get to know the Hunzedal, which in some places is about 30 metres lower than the sandy part of the Hondsrug. How that came about, and what is now being done to restore centuries-old natural values, will all be told.

During the route you will pass several places that invite you to go for a walk. or maybe you like to see how the sheep of Exloo return from the heath at the end of the afternoon.

The route makes another truly special location. That is the LOFAR area, where amidst an immense and empty nature reserve, the world's largest radio telescope is located. Not in the form of huge telescopes but with thousands of tiny antennas connected to signals light years back and forward like tent poles in the ground.

CONDITIONS

Booking and payment: After booking, you will receive a confirmation from us and also the invoice. The booking is final when payment has been received in full.

Cancellation: If you cancel the booking, the payment will not be refunded.

A new date can be fixed by mutual agreement.

If a cancellation is from 7 days before the booking date, only the booking as far as the itinerary is concerned can be moved. The catering components will have to be paid for again if you wish to book them on a new date.
