On the first day of your package, you will travel to the B&B or hotel booked for you. The booking details include address and check-in times. Want to get the most out of your three days? Then make a whole day of it.

With tips that you will find in the booking confirmation, and may also receive from your hosts upon arrival, you can explore part of the region on your own.

For example, go for a nice walking or cycling tour, or go for a guided tour in one of the castles in Het Hogeland. If you want to see as much of the region as possible, or it is not walking/cycling weather, you might like to drive the car route through Het Hogeland on the first day, and the other route through the Grain Republic on the second day. For dinner, we can warmly recommend Bistro Refter in Winsum, or farm Hermans Dijkstra in Midwolde.

After breakfast, with the car puzzle tour Grain Republic, you will explore the area from the Grain Republic to the Dollard.

You can choose from driving with route book on your lap, or with the route app with audio support. It is a puzzle route, but riding the route without worrying about the questions is of course also possible. Just relaxed touring, with plenty of moments along the way to get out for new discoveries.

Drive from your accommodation to Huninga's Heem in Oostwold, where your route starts. First, let the farm owner spoil you with coffee/tea and delicious homemade cake.

The route takes you through a special part of Groningen and near the unique nature of the Dollard

The characteristic Termunterzijl and the old fishing village Termunten steal your heart along the way, so take your time to walk around there extensively, and check out the peculiarities. Here is also a great place to enjoy a nice lunch. The address for this is given in the booking.

You then drive along the Dollarddijk, to the Dollard Visitor Centre. This stretch was of great strategic importance in WWII, part of the Atlantic Wall. You'll hear all about that, of course. From spring onwards, you can spot seals from the Dollard Visitor Centre at the seal viewing wall.

Then drive on to the next highlight: the Kiekkaaste near Nieuw Statenzijl. This is a beauty of a bird-watching cabin, accessible via a plank walkway over the water. UNIQUE! From the Dollard Coast, you dive into the real grain republic. This imposing landscape, reclaimed from the sea, was developed in previous centuries into one of the most fertile and rich arable regions in the world. The route ends at the Oldambtmeer at restaurant Paviljoen Flonk. We heartily recommend this place for dinner.

After breakfast, it's time to check out.

There is still a whole day ahead of you to get out and about. Some suggestions (in addition to the tips you've already been given):

• A day of 'island hopping' to Borkum (by ferry from Eemshaven), or to Schiermonnikoog (by ferry from Lauwersoog)
• Visit the Wadden Experience Centre (WEC) in Lauwersoog. Besides sheltering sick seals (previously in Pieterburen), the WEC offers you an experience of the Wadden area in a new way: including through an interactive exhibition. From the roof of the building, you can enjoy a unique view .
• Walking or cycling in the Lauwersmeer area.
• Eating Poffert in 't Zielhoes at Noordpolderzijl, the tiny tidal harbour on the north coast.
• Or how about a day strolling through the city of Groningen?

In short, the Groningen Wadden Region has a lot to offer you to do and experience.
