On the first day of your mini-holiday, you arrive in the atmospheric town of Dokkum. Dokkum is a fantastic base from which to discover the Frisian Wadden coast with its beautiful hinterland.

With the road trip 'Wad and Land' you can discover the most beautiful spots and interesting stories of this area. For your second day, we give you all kinds of suggestions to experience even more beauty.

You will spend the night in a comfortable and cosy B&B or regional hotel in Dokkum. For dinner, we recommend some very good restaurants.

Day 1; two-day package Frisian Wadden coast NO-Friesland

On the date you booked, drive to the start location of the 'Wad and Land' route. This is on the pier of Holwerd.

There - before you start the route - you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a delicacy. Upon confirmation of the route, you will receive the address where lunch is planned that day.

Today, you will discover the region on a beautiful route through this unique Wadden landscape. It is a puzzle route, but driving the route without worrying about the questions is of course also possible. Just enjoy touring, with plenty of moments along the way to get out for new discoveries. Wherever you look, you will find the influence of the Wadden Sea.

The stories about the centuries-old, important harbour function of Holwerd, about the beautiful, old fishing villages, in the terp villages, everywhere you see how inextricably linked the Wadden Sea and man were and still are here.

Do you most enjoy the panoramic views over the sea, spotting and recognising birds, the salty sea air and the wind through your hair? The route will more than fulfil your wishes.

This part of Friesland is so different from the rest, and fortunately not overrun by tourism! That is its unique charm.

Day 2: two-day package Frisian Wadden coast NO-Friesland

Day 2 starts, of course, with a delicious breakfast.

After checking out, you can fill in this day yourself.

Some suggestions:

Have a nice stroll through Dokkum, through atmospheric streets, along the canals and stop at all those monumental buildings. Dokkum is a lovely and cosy town with all kinds of terraces and nice shops.
Go mudflat hiking, mudflat hiking tours start from Paesens.
Feel like a day on the Wadden Islands? Get on the boat to Ameland in Holwerd.
The beautiful Lauwersmeer area is nearby.
Rent a bicycle at the accommodation and go for a nice bike ride.
Or ask at the accommodation location for special tips. They will be happy to advise you.

Can't get enough after one night's stay? We can well imagine. Booking an extra night is always possible.

Travel price: € 159.00 per person

Included: LocalGroningen route 'Wad and Land' ¢* 1x coffee/tea with cake ¢* 1x lunch (package) ¢* 1x overnight stay + breakfast ¢* booking and administration fee.

Not included: other meals and drinks * entrance tickets * bicycle rental * parking costs for own car * cost of refuelling/recharging the car * other personal expenses.

Accommodation: you will stay overnight in an attractive regional hotel or comfortable B&B in the historic town of Dokkum. Dokkum

If you have special wishes, feel free to let us know. We will do our best to fulfil your wishes. If there are additional costs involved, we will coordinate in advance.

Conditions

Booking and deposit: After booking, you will receive a confirmation from us and also the invoice. A down payment of at least 50% of the total travel sum is due within 3 days after sending the travel confirmation. The remaining amount is due no later than 4 weeks before the booking date.

If the trip is booked within 4 weeks of departure, the entire travel sum is payable at once.

Cancellation: If you cancel the booking, the following cancellation fees are due:-

from 42 days up to 30 days before the day of departure: 40% of the travel sum
from 30 days up to 7 days before the day of departure: 75% of the travel sum
from 7 days before departure: 100%.
